The Posies, “Burn & Shine” Live 2 Meter Sessie (1993)
The third Posies album Frosting on the Beater is one of those albums, as a guitar player, that I’m really jealous didn’t emerge from my own instrument. The muddy, rippling sound that permeates the whole record set it apart from all other pre-post-grunge records in 1993 (not to mention the way the Auer & Stringfellow construct melodies and harmonies better than anyone since Difford & Tilbrook did in Squeeze). This live-in-studio performance takes “Burn & Shine” all the way to the next level, though. MY. GOD.

Further proof that the Frosting On the Beater-era Posies were fucking unstoppable. The version of this song on the album’s great too, but this is absolute amplifier destruction. Plus, Mike Musburger’s drumming, for bonus awesomeness.
I’ll return to regular posting soon, I promise. In the meantime, I hope my half-assed reblogs have maintained at least a small amount of interest in my project here.
