Plumtree - Scott Pilgrim
I have no reason to have cared about this song before today, other than that it inspired the title of a much-loved graphic novel series:

…but now that I’m listening to it, I’m finding that this is a pretty great song. Not perfect: I’m not all that stoked about the choruses on which two different members of the band sing two different phrases over and over at the same time. For one thing, it gets a bit repetitive after a while, and for another, no matter how hard I try, I can only understand what one of them is singing. But all of that is made up for by the song’s crunching guitars, catchy melodies, and awesome structuring. I love the big pause they do inbetween the second chorus and the first verse, which is repeated a couple more times before the end of the song. And I love the video; the classic cars drag-racing, all the cassette tapes scattered around the floorboard, the awesome grunge-era fashions that the girls of Plumtree are sporting—it’s all great. I’d barely heard of Plumtree before now, but this song is enough to inspire me to track down their other work.
